Building Our Lives on the Foundation of God’s Word

If we want to thrive, we should build our lives on a strong foundation. When it comes to foundation, I believe that the best foundation is the Word of God. We should build our lives on God’s Word. We should base everything we do on it.

Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and does them, I will show you what he is like:
he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built.
But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”
(Luke 6:47-49)

Having a strong foundation makes a big difference when bad times come. Those with a strong foundation wouldn’t be shaken while those without one would fall.

As the verses above state, a strong foundation comes from being a doer of God’s Word. But to become a doer of God’s Word, we need to meditate on it.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
(Joshua 1:8)

To “be careful to do according to all that is written in it”, we need to “meditate on it day and night.” That’s why meditating on God’s Word is important: it enables us to become doers of the Word.

So let’s build the habit of meditating on God’s Word. That’s how we build our lives on a strong foundation.
