Discipleship is essential if you want to reach your full potential in Christ. Christ talked about it in Matthew 28:19-20:
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
The mission here is clear: to make disciples of all nations. As a disciple, we need to be baptized. Then we need to be taught to observe the commands of Christ. Later, when we have grown spiritually, we also need to teach others the commands of Christ.
and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
(2 Timothy 2:2)
In practice, discipleship is done in a small group because that’s how we can make sure that everyone observes the commands of Christ. You can’t do that in a large group. Only in a small group can we stir up one another to love and good works.
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,
(Hebrews 10:24)
We all need to join a small group for discipleship. That’s how you can reach your full potential in Christ.
