I’d like to share with you today about enjoying God’s Word. This, I believe, is an important topic. Why? Because it becomes the source of many other things. In fact, the Scripture says that it’s the key to divine success.
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
(Psalms 1:1-3)
The person here has a life that feels fresh (‘like a tree planted by streams of water’) and he prospers in all that he does. Why? Because he delights in the law of the Lord! That’s why he meditates on it day and night.
Meditating on the Word day and night will happen naturally if you delight in it. For example, I liked to play games (I still do to some extent) and I’d happily play them day and night. Nobody had to force me to do it. It was my delight, so it’s something that I naturally wanted to do all day long.
Similarly, if you delight in God’s Word, you will naturally think about it day and night. Nobody has to force you to do it. And when you do that, your life will feel fresh and what you do will prosper.
So let’s make God’s Word our delight.
